SS0 Equipment Features Overview
Release time: 2024-11-15
In the new season, equipment features prefix and suffix stats, modifier tempering, and gear ratings. Not satisfied with your equipment's tempered modifiers? You can now "Smelt" them! Here's a quick overview of the key changes:
- In the new season, Boss Fatebound effects and Unique Fatebound effects (Fatebounds featured on Insane-Quality Gear) will be changed to Legendary Effects:
- Legendary and Insane-Quality gear will each come with a default Legendary Effect that activates upon equipping.
- Boss gear's Legendary Effects will activate with just one piece equipped, while the full benefit of the effect requires three pieces of Boss Set.
- New season equipment can have up to three Fatebound effects.
- The first Fatebound on new season equipment can now be realigned.
- Duplicate modifiers may appear on new season equipment.
- Equipment ranking up will always succeed.
- The drop rates for Legendary and Insane-Quality gear have been significantly increased.
- All monsters in the dungeons of the new season will have a chance to drop Insane-Quality gear.
- Old-season gear can still be used. For more details, please refer to the equipment season rules below.
Since there have been changes to the Fatebounds and modifiers on new season gear, old-season gear is no longer compatible with the new season's progression system and cannot be further developed. However, permanent characters can still equip and use the old-season gear.
Old-season Insane-Quality gear will no longer drop in the new season, some of their unique Fatebpunds will be replaced with new ones. Existing old-season Insane-Quality gear will remain unaffected and can still be equipped and used.
Now, let's introduce the new gear progression system, including the new features: Equipment Rankings and the Codex of Equipment & Fatebounds!
Equipment Changes in the New Season
Let's take a look at the key updates to equipment this season! New features include Ratings, Prefix and Suffix Stats, and Legendary Effects. For example, check out the Conquistador's Breastplate.
Rating The gear rating is simply a reference. The actual effectiveness of the gear will depend on how you choose to combine it with your other gear.
Base Stats
New season equipment only has one base stat, and each equipment type has a different base stat.
Prefix Stats
The number of prefix stats depends on the equipment's quality. The higher the quality, the more prefix stats it can have. Prefix stats can repeat, and when they do, they will be "folded"—meaning their values will be added together.
Suffix Stats
Suffix stats cannot repeat and don't have a "folding" feature. Only Legendary and Insane-Quality gear will have suffix stats.
You will see different colored bullet points next to the prefix and suffix stats indicating their quality—Rare, Epic, or Legendary. You can tap the unfold button at the bottom left of the equipment to check the detailed prefix and suffix stats.
The quality of the prefix and suffix stats is not affected by the equipment's quality or level. Even a level 10 Charmed equipment can feature a Legendary quality prefix stat!
Legendary Effect Legendary effects work similarly to the boss and unique Fatebounds from previous seasons, but now they're exclusively available on Legendary and Insane-Quality gear.
In the past, you'd have to grind for the right Fatebound item, enhance it, and then decide if it was worth investing further resources based on the Fatebound and modifiers. This process could be quite resource-intensive.
In the new season, you can evaluate whether to continue forging an item simply by checking its prefix and suffix stats. Plus, each piece of equipment now includes a set number of default forging attempts!
Now, let's walk through how to create your ideal gear and the steps involved!
Gear Strength at a Glance
While grinding in Crystal Mines, I came across another Soulstalker Hatchet. Here's what I discovered:
- It has a Legendary Effect.
- The prefix and suffix stats provide the Crit Hit and Attack Speed boost I need.
- The Fatebound effect matches what I was hoping for.
- This weapon's rating shows a green arrow, meaning it's even better than the Soulstalker Hatchet I currently have equipped.
So, I decided to forge this gear piece!
Forging Interface
In the new season, the Forging interface can be accessed via the E.Smith in the right sidebar or by selecting an equipment piece and tapping "Forging" in the Backpack. This feature unlocks when your character reaches a certain level.
Equipment dismantling and forging can now be done directly in your Backpack without needing to visit the Blacksmith. You can even access these features while in a dungeon!
Forge: Gear Enhancement
Once you've selected the equipment to forge, it's time to dive into the core process: Temper. Temper increases the maximum values of prefix and suffix stats, and it also has a chance to add new Fatebounds, making your gear more versatile.
In the new season, every piece of equipment comes with a default Forgeability value. The higher the equipment's level, the more Forgeability it has—level 60 gear has 30 points. Each attempt uses 1 point of Forgeability. Forge also consumes coins and Forging Ores, which can be obtained in abundance from dungeon areas.
It's recommended to first use up the equipment's Forgeability and see if the forged results meet your expectations before deciding whether to continue developing it.
For example, in the case of the Ring of the Medusa, the white, blue, and purple stars represent Charmed, Rare, and Epic qualities, while the orange crown signifies Legendary quality, and the red crown indicates Insane quality.
An item can have multiple Legendary qualities (orange crowns), but only one Insane quality (red crown) can be featured through tempering. Charmed, Rare, Epic, and Legendary qualities grant modifiers, but only Insane quality grants the Fatebound effect.
The Insane quality Fatebound obtained through forging can be realigned using Weathered Hephaestite. Realigning consumes both Forgeability and Forging Ores.
In the new season, the types of tempered modifiers are determined by the equipment's prefix and suffix. For example, the Ring of the Medusa has "Attack Power," "All Damage," and "Physical Damage" as its prefix and suffix stats, so only these types of modifiers can be tempered.
Note: The values of the tempered modifiers are independent and do not affect the original modifier stats of the equipment.
If you're not satisfied with the current tempering result, you can tap Temper Again to consume 1 more Forgeability point and continue tempering. Once you choose Confirm, the current tempering outcome cannot be changed, so be sure to think carefully!
Additionally, the maximum number of modifiers that can be tempered (the Temper Tier) depends on the equipment's level:
- For equipment levels below 40, the maximum Temper Tier is 5.
- For equipment levels below 60, the maximum Temper Tier is 6.
- For equipment at level 60, the maximum Temper Tier is 7.
Smelting: Reset Tempering Effects
If you're not satisfied with a tempered piece of equipment, you can use a "Smelting Voucher" to reset it. The equipment must be above level 60 and have a Temper Tier greater than 0 to be eligible for smelting.
After smelting, the equipment's Forgeability is refunded, and all tempered modifiers are cleared. The equipment's original prefix/suffix stats remain unaffected by the smelt.
Reforge: Increase Prefix/Suffix Stats Values
In the new season, the use of the Volcanic Hephaestite has been adjusted. It is now used to reforge prefix and suffix stats, and can be obtained from dungeon drops. Once a stat is chosen, it cannot be changed, but its value can be reforged repeatedly.
For example, if you choose to reforge the "Life" prefix stat, the "Life" stat will not convert to another stat, but you'll see its value changing as the reforge moves forward.
Realign Bonds: First Fatebound Can Also Be Realigned
Realign Bonds allows you to change the Fatebound using the Weathered Hephaestite. In the new season, level 60 equipment comes with 2 Fatebounds, while equipment below level 60 comes with 1 Fatebound. The default Fatebounds on equipment can be realigned.
Rank Up: Take Your Equipment to the Next Level
In the new season, the drop rates for Legendary and Insane-Quality gear have been significantly increased. When equipment drops, its level is fixed, and ranking it up is guaranteed to succeed. To rank up your gear, you'll need Lydites and coins, but only fully-leveled (level 60) equipment can be ranked up. The higher the tier, the more Lydites are required.
Ranking up won't affect the results of realigning, tempering, or reforging. Whether you choose to rank up or temper your equipment first, it won't impact the other progression results. Ranking up will enhance the base stats, as well as the prefix and suffix stats of your equipment.
To sum up: After acquiring your equipment, check if it has a Legendary effect and if its prefix/suffix stats align with your needs, then proceed with Tempering. It's recommended to prioritize tempering first—use up the equipment's default Forgeability and see if you can get the desired results. Then, decide whether to continue developing the gear before realigning, reforging, or ranking up it, gradually shaping your equipment to perfection.
Now that we've covered the new season's gear forging, let's introduce some of the other gear features and season rules.
Equipment Rankings
In the new season, we've introduced a gear leaderboard that shows the ratings for each gear slot. This makes it easy to compare your equipment with others'. The leaderboard is for ranking purposes only and does not offer any rewards.
Equipment Season Rules
The gear in SS0 has undergone significant changes. Here are the season rules related to gear:
- Permanent gear, including Insane, Helxar-infused, and Culminated gear, remains usable by permanent characters for activities such as dungeon grinding, tower climbing, and the Trial of Embers.
- Permanent gear cannot be realigned, tempered, ranked up, reforged, or smelted.
- Some of the permanent Insane-Quality gear's Fatebounds will still be valid, but the Fatebounds for the remaining permanent Insane-Quality gear will be adjusted.
- Old-season Insane-Quality gear will no longer drop in the new season, but any Insane-Quality gear obtained from the old season won't be affected, permanent characters can still use them.
- In the new season, Insane-Quality gear is now tied to specific dungeon areas. Instead of requiring specific bosses to be defeated, it can now drop from any monster within the corresponding dungeon area.
- The Helxar-related features are temporarily disabled, including the Helxar-touched dungeons and Helxar Infusion. Madame Silvesper will be temporarily removed from the game.
- Helxar-infused and Culminated gear will remain valid and can still be used by permanent characters.
- Existing Ebon Shards and Helxarines will remain in the Consumables of your Backpack and will not be affected.
Codex of Equipment & Fatebounds
In the new season, we've added a Codex feature, which includes both the Codex of Equipment and the Codex of Fatebounds.
The Codex of Equipment displays Insane and Legendary quality gear, with the ability to filter by gear quality and slot type.
In the Codex of Equipment, you can view information such as gear stats, Fatebounds, Legendary effects, and possible Fatebounds and prefix/suffix stats at various levels.
The Codex of Fatebounds also supports filtering, and you can tap on a Fatebound to view detailed information.
That's all for the equipment system introduction!
In SS0, we mainly focused on adjusting and optimizing the overall game. Due to resource and time constraints, there are no new gameplay or classes in this season.
In future updates, we'll be releasing more content for you to experience!
