[New Season Preview] Helxar Returns! New Progression and Features Revealed
Release time: 2025-01-15
Greetings, knights! Exciting news: The long-missed Helxar gameplay is making a fresh comeback this season!
Alongside the Helxar-touched Dungeons and Helxar Talents, we're introducing two new features: the Avaricious Gambit and the gear progression system, Avarice. New season's gear can even have up to six legendary affixes!
Let's dive in and take a look!
Avarice
Avarice is the new gear progression feature introduced in the new season. With Avarice, gear can gain an additional Avarice affix, and there's even a chance for a piece of equipment to have up to six legendary affixes.
First, select a piece of gear for progression, then choose another piece as the Avarice Offering. When destroyed, one affix (either a prefix or suffix) from the Avarice Offering will be randomly added as an Avarice affix to the progression gear.
Please note:
- The Avarice Offering and the gear must match the quality and slot type, and both must be from the same season.
- Reforged affixes can become Avarice affixes, but once Avarice is achieved, the values of these affixes are fixed and cannot be reforged.
The more times Avarice is achieved, the more Helxar currency and coins it will consume. Additionally, Avarice requires the equipment to be level 60 or above with both prefix and suffix affixes.
Avarice has a success rate that increases with the number of affixes on the Avarice offering. If it fails, no Avarice affix will be gained, and the offering will be destroyed. Additionally, if the gear already has an Avarice affix, the offering will still be consumed, and the existing Avarice affix will be removed.
Each piece of equipment can only have one Avarice affix. If Avarice is achieved again and succeeds, the new Avarice affix will replace the previous one.
Avaricious Gambit
The Helxar returns, imbued with the power of Avarice, giving rise to a unique Treasureloom. Shaped like a lotus, it reveals its secrets as its petals unfold, awakening a creature called the "Helxavar," which guards hidden treasures within.
How will you claim these treasures? What kind of riches await you? It all comes down to your choice—Temper your cravings, or heed your greed? The decision is yours.
The Avaricious Gambit is a season-exclusive mode, unlocked at Challenging difficulty or higher and available only in single-player mode.
In the new season, you can encounter the Treasureloom in normal dungeons, Projection Dungeons, Helxar-Touched dungeons, and the Proving Grounds. In the Proving Grounds, however, it only appears after floor 50. If the Treasureloom is encountered multiple times in a day, its powers of Avarice will become attenuated, and it will no longer appear for the day.
When interacting with the Treasureloom, three pieces of gear labeled “No Avarice Effects” will appear at random. You can choose Indulgence, Avarice, or Forbearance. All gear in the Treasureloom is of legendary quality.
Indulgence
Choosing this option will commence a fight against the Helxavar. Defeating it grants you all the gear offered by the Treasureloom.
Avarice
Choosing Avarice will consume one Avarice attempt and commence a fight against the Helxavar. Defeating your opponent within the time limit will be deemed a successful Avarice attempt.
When successful, one random equipment item offered by the Treasureloom is removed, and you'll be rewarded the remaining two items, one of which is granted one of the following effects:
- Affix Suffusion: A random equipment item from the remaining ones gains additional affixes up to their max limit.
- Affix Exaltation: A random affix from one of the remaining equipment items is upgraded to Legendary quality.
- Affix Transmutation: An affix of a specific slot type is converted into another type.
- Affix Collapse: Grants a new affix of the same stat as existing affixes but with random quality and values.
- Forgeability Expansion: Increases Forgeability.
*Up to 2 Avarice attempts can be made to a single equipment piece from the same batch.
Forbearance
Upon picking this option, the Treasureloom refreshes its batch of offered equipment and disappears.
Avaricious Gambit offers brand-new Legendary gear. Along with these new features, the Helxar-Touched dungeons and Helxar Talents are making a refreshed return this season. Let's check out the changes!
Helxar-Touched Dungeons
Helxar-Touched Dungeons unlock when your character reaches level 50 and completes the Chains of Urgannon on Heroic Difficulty. You can switch to this mode via the "Mode Select" menu in the top-left corner of the world map. Multiplayer challenges are supported.
Under the influence of Helxar, you'll gain stacks of Helxar corruption at regular intervals after entering a Helxar-Touched dungeon. Being attacked by enemies also inflicts Helxar corruption. Each stack imposes two negative effects: "reduces the damage you deal" and "increases the damage you take." The more stacks of corruption, the stronger the effects.
The maximum dungeon level is 8. Higher levels increase the corruption rate and make enemies more challenging.
Tip: In co-op mode, each player has their own independent Helxar Corruption stacks, which do not affect others.
In addition to the Helxar corruption mechanic, the new season introduces the following features for Helxar-Touched Dungeons:
Summoning Progress
Defeating enemies and environmental crystallites within the Helxar-Touched dungeon increases the summoning progress of elite Helxar creatures. When the progress bar is filled, a random creature from Helxar Unguis, Helxar Malum, or Helxar Cor will be summoned and the progress will reset. Defeating these creatures will grant additional rewards.
Helxar Seal
In specific-level Helxar-Touched dungeons, you may encounter Helxar Seals. Interacting with them will summon Helxar creatures. Successfully defeating them rewards you with Helxar currency and other items. The Helxar Seal may appear multiple times within the same dungeon.
Tip: Helxar Seals do not appear in co-op mode.
Helxar Talents
In response to the formidable threat of Helxar, Madame Silvesper brings new Helxar talents to you!
After entering a Helxar-Touched dungeon, click the "Helxar Talents" button in the bottom-left corner to access the interface. You can use Helxar currency to unlock Helxar talents and gain various buffs.
Tip: Defeating enemies in Helxar-Touched Dungeons will reward you with Helxar currency.
Helxar talents must be unlocked from left to right, and you can only unlock talents that are connected to the previously unlocked ones. If a prerequisite talent hasn't been unlocked, a message will appear saying, "You need to unlock a preceding talent first."
Helxar talents are shared among permanent characters and among pure seasonal characters on the same account, but they remain independent between the two character types. At the end of the season, seasonal Helxar talents will merge with those of permanent characters, while new pure seasonal characters must unlock them again. Tip: In co-op mode, the progress of Helxar talents is determined by the host's progress, and teammates will use the talents the host has unlocked.
