SS3 Call of the Void Preview: Time to Forge Gear with Six Insane Affixes!
Release time: 2025-07-09
Hey Knights! The highly anticipated Call of the Void gameplay for the new season is finally here!
Let's skip the chatter and dive right in!
How to Enter
After the new season starts, Voidrifts may appear beside the entrance on stage 1 when playing solo in Helxar-touched dungeon, Projection dungeon, or dungeon at Challenging difficulty and above. You can choose to enter or ignore them.
Voidrifts also appear in Enigmine (Difficulty 2 and above). Step into one from certain blocks to begin exploring.
Entering a Voidrift doesn't consume a Pickaxe. After finishing a run, Void fragments will scatter onto nearby blocks, granting buffs. These blocks that promise more gains will be marked with a special icon.
Note: Accretion Mark will be removed in SS3. Excavate blocks with Void fragments to get bonuses instead.
How to Explore the Void
In SS3, certain Proving Grounds maps will become part of the Voidlands. For a full breakdown of Call of the Void gameplay, check out the video below.
A new gear type debuts this season—Void equipment! Unlike regular Insane gear, Void equipment comes with exclusive mechanics and a full upgrade system known as Voidshaping & Void Transmutation.
Quick summary: You can forge a Void equipment with top-tier Legendary effects, affixes, and Tempered stats—potentially creating a god-tier piece with six Insane affixes!
Additionally, all materials needed for Voidshaping & Void Transmutation can be earned for free through Call of the Void and Dreadmarch Mode.
Now let me show you how Void equipment, Voidshaping, and Void Transmutation work—and how to master the power from the Void!
*Available for both permanent and seasonal characters. Only gear obtained during SS3 can be Void Transmuted or crafted via Voidshaping.
Void Equipment
Void equipment can be obtained through Call of the Void. These items are marked by a distinctive multicolored border and come with the following unique features: 1. Each piece of Void equipment comes with a Legendary effect that has its own level, both of which are randomly determined.
2. Void equipment may come with one or more native affixes. These cannot be replaced, but Insane quality native affixes can be rerolled using Void materials.
3. Void equipment has zero Forgeability; it cannot be tempered, reforged, or smelted through standard means. All enhancements must be done via Voidshaping.
4. Legendary effects, Tempered stats, and Uncohered slots on Void equipment can be transferred or replaced from Legendary or Insane gear.
Voidshaping & Void Transmutation
Voidshaping is an exclusive upgrade system for Void equipment, while Void Transmutation is a new enhancement feature for max-level Legendary and Insane gear.
Voidshaping
Voidshaping includes Charge Aether, Void Coherence, Void Branding, and Void Crucible. These features can be accessed via the [Top-right Menu – Voidshaping]. Coherence and Branding unlock when your character reaches certain levels, while Void Crucible and Charge Aether become available after reaching specific floors in the Proving Grounds.
Void Coherence
Void Coherence allows you to randomly transfer prefixes and/or suffixes from a fully-affixed Legendary or Insane piece of gear into the Coherence slots of a Void equipment of the same body slot.
Void equipment can be Cohered multiple times, with new results overwriting old ones. Coherence consumes coins and Aether from the Void equipment.
You can choose whether to Cohere prefixes, suffixes, or both. In the example below, both the prefixes and suffixes from Knight Captain's Warhelm are being transferred onto Voidal Panoptic Cranuloid.
*If the Knight Captain's Warhelm has 4 prefixes but the Voidal Panoptic Cranuloid has only 3 Uncohered prefix slots, then after tapping the Cohere button, 3 prefixes from the Warhelm will be randomly transferred to the Cranuloid.
Void Branding
Void Branding allows you to transfer Tempered stats and Legendary effects from a piece of Void, Legendary, or Insane gear to a Void equipment of in the same body slot. Void equipment can be re-Branded multiple times, with new results overwriting old ones. Branding consumes Voidbrand Stones and Aether from the Void equipment. Voidbrand Stones can be obtained by defeating Void Gorvex and Dementoth.
You can choose whether to Brand only the Tempered stats, only the Legendary effect, or both. Here's an example:
- After Branding Tempered stats, the stats on the original Knight Captain's Warhelm will be removed and transferred onto the Voidal Vervetic Cirrus.
- After Branding the Legendary effect, the effect on Knight Captain's Warhelm will remain, but the effect on Voidal Vervetic Cirrus will be overwritten. Its name and icon will be updated to Voidal Knight Captain's Warhelm. The original Knight Captain's Warhelm will not be consumed and can be reused for future Branding.
Charge Aether
Void equipment comes with a fixed amount of Aether, which is consumed when performing Void Coherence or Void Branding. You can replenish it via Charge Aether. Charge Aether consumes Aethercubes, which can be obtained from the merchant in the Voidlands, Dementoth, or as rewards from the Dreadmarch Mode Leaderboard.
Void Crucible
Only level 60 Void equipment can be placed in the Void Crucible. It allows you to reroll the type of one native Insane-quality affix on a Void item. Only one Insane affix can be rerolled per item. This process consumes Void Hephaestites, which can be obtained by defeating Dementoth or through Dreadmarch Mode Leaderboard rewards.
Void Transmutation
Void Transmutation is available only for Level 60 Legendary or Insane gear. Access it via [Top-right Menu – Forge – Void Transmutation].
This feature randomly increases the quality of one affix at the cost of randomly decreasing the quality of another. If the same affix is selected for both the upgrade and downgrade, its quality remains unchanged. Transmutation consumes Negative Weights, which can be obtained from the merchant in the Voidlands or the Dreadmarch Mode Leaderboard.
You can also use the Lock-in Affix feature during transmutation to protect specific affixes from being altered. The more affixes you lock, the more materials are required—up to a maximum of 4 locks.
*Lock-in Affix requires Voidlocks, which can be obtained by defeating Dementoth or through the Dreadmarch Mode Leaderboard.
How to Craft Powerful Void Equipment
Here's a quick summary on how to craft a top-tier piece of Void equipment:
- First, obtain or craft a Legendary/Insane-quality base gear with solid prefixes and suffixes via dungeon drops or Void Transmutation.
- Then, get a Void equipment base with solid native affixes from Call of the Void (note: native affixes cannot be tempered).
- Perform Void Coherence to transfer the affixes from your Legendary/Insane gear onto the Void equipment.
- Perform Void Branding to grant the Void gear better Legendary effects and Tempered stats.
- Perform Charge Aether to charge your Void gear—Coherence and Branding can be performed repeatedly to overwrite previous results until you're fully satisfied.
Follow this process and you might just end up crafting a god-tier Void item with six Insane-quality affixes! Besides, all the materials needed for this progression can be earned for free through Call of the Void or Dreadmarch Mode.
Note: In SS3, the Avaricious Gambit and Avarice-related Helxar feature will be removed. Any Avarice gear you've already obtained will remain unaffected.

Dreadmarch Mode
Availability & Entry
Once your character reaches a certain level, you can access [Top-right Menu] → [Dreadmarch Mode]. Dreadmarch Mode runs on weekends and includes two phases:
Dreadmarch: Breaking Tides (available every Saturday)
Dreadmarch: Eschaton (available every Sunday)
Dreadmarch: Breaking Tides
During this event, defeat hordes of enemies within the time limit to earn points. Successfully completing the challenge also rewards you with a Void Chest.
Based on the total points you earn, you can receive two types of rewards:
- Leaderboard Rewards – Distributed every Monday based on your local time. Each account receives rewards once per week, determined by the character with the highest score.
- Progress Rewards – Shared across all characters on the same account. Each milestone can only be claimed once.
Difficulty Modifier
After tapping [Prep], you can select not only the level difficulty but also activate any number of difficulty modifiers to further increase the challenge. The more modifiers you select, the higher your Point Multiplier, meaning more points earned!
Your final Point Multiplier is determined by both the base level difficulty and the selected difficulty modifiers.
You can check out all available difficulty modifiers in the image below ↓
Void Stockpiles
Tap [Commence Battle] to enter the Dreadmarch: Breaking Tides dungeon. Void stockpiles will appear on the map—run into them to gain temporary boosts.
Dreadmarch: Eschaton
Dreadmarch's commanders—Dreadmarch Exarch and Void Harbinger—will take turns appearing each week.
*If the Dreadmarch Exarch is active this week, the Void Harbinger will appear next week.
During the event, you can challenge the weekly boss as many times as you like. Each attempt rewards you with a Void Chest.
Your best damage dealt within the time limit will be recorded and used to determine your weekly leaderboard ranking and Clear Loot:
- Leaderboard Rewards will be sent every Monday (based on your local time). Each account will only receive leaderboard rewards once per week, based on the highest score among all your characters.
- Clear Loot is shared across all characters on the same account, and each milestone can only be claimed once.
Reminder: The Yearhunt will be removed in SS3. You can now earn rewards like Forgeability Vouchers through Dreadmarch: Eschaton instead!
Void Covenant
This event will be available after the SS3 update until 4:00 AM (UTC+8) on August 20, 2025. You can access it via [Top-right Menu – Void Covenant].
